Neil Schon, Journey, The Next Tour, Providence Civic Center, R.I., April 8th, 1977

I was photographing a few Gary Wright shows for Bandana Enterprises and was at the Providence Civic Center, R.I.. I had watched the opening band, Starcastle, and then the San Francisco band Journey. After Journey played, I was walking around the backstage when Herbie Herbert, Journey’s manager comes up to me and says “Hey, you gotta joint?”. “My band really would like to smoke a joint”. Just by happenstance (uh-huh), I had a few rolled. So he took me and my friend Karen (who came with me to the show) to Journey’s dressing room and I gave them the joints that I happened to have with me. The band was really great to talk to and were all very cordial. Talked awhile to Neil Schon and their drummer at the time Ainsley Dunbar. Greg Rollie was really fun to talk to and was nice enough to invite me to their next show at the Orpheum Theater in Boston (opening for the Atlanta Rhythm Section). Had a great time hanging with them. Great people.
